David Slemen – Co-Founder and Managing Director

Co-founder David spent 13 years as a professional rugby player – starting his career at Orrell RFC before going on to play Heineken Cup and Premiership rugby at Harlequins and Celtic League with Connacht on the west coast of Ireland before ending his career as captain of Esher RFC. After his rugby career, David moved into the world of business and eventually recruitment.

After joining Miramar, an international search firm sourcing senior executives for FTSE 100 energy and industrial firms, he worked his way to director level placing senior executives in the chemical, industrial and energy sectors across Europe.

David’s discovery after a conversation with a headhunting firm that there were few, if any, executive search specialists who had also played professional sport, which led to the foundation of Elite Performance Partners at the start of 2013.

“Our goal at Elite Performance Partners is to change the way sports teams look at recruiting people and aligning to a bigger purpose” David says. “I am a passionate believer in developing people to reach their potential and the power of values driven leadership to align organisations culturally and strategically to deliver their goals.”

David sits on the board at Esher Rugby Club and on the council of Merchant Taylors’ School Old Boys Association and regularly commentates for BBC Radio.
